"When I became the Director of this department I placed an emphasis on education. The lack of education is where a lot of problems begin. We now present 30 to 50 school programs a year. People will tell you, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks". I say you can teach the puppies and they will teach the elders". - Paul Rose Director.

The Cumberland Animal Control Department can be reached by telephone at 333-2745. The Animal Control Division is located at 44 Martin Street and is open to the public Monday - Thursday 10:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 pm, Friday 10:00a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Closed Sundays and Holidays.

The Cumberland Animal Shelter provides the following services:
Shelter Tours, Educational Programs, Adoption Services, Ferret Rescue, Reptile Rescue, Video Library, Book Library, Classroom, Rabies Clinics (twice yearly).
