How to Reach Us
The Public Works Sewer Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of sanitary sewers and wastewater collection and pumping facilities within the Town of Cumberland. There are approximately 70 miles of gravity sewers which connect to Narragansett Bay Commission’s interceptor sewers that convey our wastewater through Cumberland to the other southerly systems leading to Bucklin Point facility in East Providence, RI. The Sewer Department operates and maintains four separate wastewater pumping stations, which are located on Abbott Street, Broadview Avenue, Curran Road, and on Highland Corporate Drive. There are approximately 10,000 town residents and 250 commercial and industrial customers who are connected to the town sewer system. The Sewer Department also administers all permitting associated with sanitary sewer connections, and processes all sewer assessment and sewer usage bills.
