Building & Zoning

Effective April 1st, the Building Department will no longer accept in-person or hard-copy permit applications for all projects requiring permits. All applications shall be conducted through the Town’s “OpenGov” computer system, which can be accessed through the online portal.

The town maintains a workstation, available to the general public during regular business hours, located within the Building Department’s office.

Inspections

To schedule an inspection, other than electrical, call Dolly Rousseau, Building and Zoning Clerk, at 401-728-2400, ext. 141.

To schedule an electrical inspection, call Edward Skwirz, Electrical Inspector, at 401-499-2607.

All inspections require a 48-hour notice, not including holidays and weekends.

Please be advised:

  • Inspections will not be completed without a Permit Number.
  • Structures shall have an approved address number or approved building identification that is plainly legible and visible from the street fronting the property.
  • Structures shall have stairs installed for inspections.
