The CodeRED emergency notification system is used to alert Cumberland residents and businesses in the event of an emergency. A notification can be for an evacuation, missing child or a weather related emergency for example. Residents and businesses in Cumberland are encouraged to sign up for CodeRED to ensure they receive timely emergency notifications along with other important information and instructions when alerts are issued.
When enrolled in the CodeRED system, alerts are issued to the subscriber by geographical location. Alerts can be sent to a cell phone, land line, text and or email. With CodeRED, the subscriber also has the option to receive Severe Weather Warnings with the Emergency Notifications. Weather alerts are generated when the National Weather Service issues a warning for the subscriber’s enrolled location. Early warning notification could prove to be instrumental in preparedness and lifesaving.
